Job Title: Senior Python Developer
Location: 100% Remote
Position Summary:
The Senior Python Developer will serve as a Staff-level or highly senior engineering contractor supporting the Symetra account. The role requires strong hands-on software engineering experience with Python, Claude Code, PostgreSQL, AWS DevOps, and Azure DevOps. The engineer will be expected to work across application development, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps environments, with specific experience across AWS ECS, EC2, Lambda, and RDS. Experience with .NET/C# and DynamoDB is considered beneficial.
This is a senior-level contractor position intended for a Staff Engineer or highly senior engineer who can contribute independently across development, cloud, and DevOps responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using Python.
- Use Claude Code effectively as part of software development and engineering workflows.
- Design, develop, and work with PostgreSQL databases.
- Support AWS-based application development, deployment, and DevOps activities.
- Work hands-on with AWS ECS, EC2, Lambda, and RDS.
- Support cloud infrastructure and application environments across AWS.
- Utilize Azure DevOps for software development and DevOps processes.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, cloud, and deployment-related issues.
- Contribute at a Staff Engineer or highly senior engineering level across development and cloud engineering activities.
Minimum Experience:
- Staff-level or highly senior software engineering experience.
- Strong professional experience developing applications using Python.
- Hands-on proficiency with Claude Code.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL/Postgres.
- Hands-on AWS DevOps experience.
- Experience working with AWS ECS, EC2, Lambda, and RDS.
- Experience with Azure DevOps.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote contract environment.
